What can you expect from
our first meeting?
- Initial Meeting. We listen -- what are your thoughts about the ceremony, what are your concerns, what do you need assistance with, how can we best serve you?
Planning Session. About three or four months before your wedding, we meet to go over your initial thoughts about your ceremony. Many times, couples have a very clear idea after reading through the Guide and selecting and modifying what they found . . . and adding words of their own. Of course, you can also call upon our writing talents as well.
We also go over the logistics of the ceremony, such as how your attendants enter, where they stand, where your parents are seated, etc. Via email and phone calls, we follow-up until the ceremony is perfectly you!
Rehearsal. We rehears the ceremony a time or two. This way everyone can relax and better enjoy themselves on the actual day.
Wedding Day. Arriving before the ceremony, we coordinate with the other wedding professionals for a smooth running day.
Filing of Documents. You apply for your marriage documents but we can file them for you so that's one less thing you need to worry about!
Keepsake Copy of Your Ceremony. This archive quality print of your ceremony is wonderful for vow renewals later in your marriage.
What questions do you recommend asking
the celebrant before making a final decision?
- How long have you been an officiant and what is your training?
- Are you legal in my state?
- Can we meet with you in person? (if this is geographically possible….you will get a vibe from the officiant’s personality and get to see whether they show up on time, whether they are prepared for your meeting, etc.
- Why do you love doing this work? Your officiant should sound like they really, really want to be present at your celebration and make it a memorable occasion.
- How will you create is ceremony? You should feel that your ceremony is going to be written with care, with your input, and with resources that match your philosophies and wishes.
- Can we include a sand ceremony, ring warming, broom jump, dunk tank? If you are interested in including ritual elements, you of course, want to work with someone who is happy to research and write them. The process is, after all, a collaboration. Rigidity is a bad sign.
- How much do you charge? Does that include travel time, parking, waiting time, extra consultations? You want to know, ahead of time, what that number is going to be. In most cases, the only thing that may be up in the air is waiting time, and this is an important factor not only regard to your ceremony, but also to your reception planning. There are many ways and reasons to assure that your wedding happens on time, and a pro celebrant should be able to work with you on containing this cost.
- What is your cancellation policy (if the couple has to cancel or move the date)? What is your policy if you, as an officiant have to cancel?
- Will you work to coordinate with my photographer, florist, banquet manager, do, band, etc? The only answer is YES
